Hi everyone,

Let’s talk about relationships. You thought I was gonna open with golf didn’t you? I’ll get to it, just teeing up a bit first.

One of the questions I’m asked most often, is what to do when your partner is messy and won’t help sort out the clutter. So one of you wants to get organised and the other doesn’t see the mess. One of you wants to hire a Professional and the other thinks you should be able to do it yourselves.

Let’s face it, it takes a lot of balls to invite someone into your house to look all around. Of course this is no nice walk around a golf course. And it’s why I’m so grateful for all the clients I have and the trust they put in me.

As I’ve come to find as I go from home to home, there are two types of partners – the ones that either love the idea, or the ones that (politely) hate it! I’m like Marmite!

The main issue is touching their stuff. Whether it’s neat and tidy or a complete mess, they know where their stuff is, they know how to sort it and they’ll do it when they’re ready.

Fair enough! I totally understand and I certainly don’t want to work anywhere I’m not needed.

However, let’s take an eagle view on this…let’s get off the rough and look at things from the Clubhouse.

How is your partner feeling? Would he/ she feel better if they had an extra pair of hands to get through sorting out a room? Are they time poor…working all day, and minding kids in the evening? Are they feeling overwhelmed? Is the clutter causing arguments?

This is the benefit of an Organiser. There is more to an Organiser than decluttering.

✓ You get a clear view of what’s working and what’s not working in the home

✓ You have extra help to do the work

✓ While you are concentrating on the hard decisions, we’re working around you to keep things on track

✓ We know where to start, what to do and when, in order to get a result

✓ We can help with decisions

✓ We discuss the family’s habits and use of the space to create new organised systems

✓ We help you choose storage that works well so you’re not wasting money on poor storage

And to give more reassurance, if you absolutely do not want us to go through your things, we don’t have to. Yep you read that right. We don’t have to rifle through items in order to make them look better and work. Granted it’s a harder job for us, and less of a result for you, but what we can do is simply tidy it up, organise it into categories and suggest storage that would suit your things better. This in itself can make the space work a bit better than before. Decluttering can be done another time, or by yourself if you so wish.

Now before I land myself in a bunker here, when I say we don’t “have to go through your things”, what I mean is that we will go through and declutter everything else. For example, imagine we are sorting out a Utility Room that contained your golf items; what we would do there is we would declutter the entire room except your golf items. We would tidy up your golf items and look at what storage would make them work better. But we wouldn’t throw a thing out. By the way, we can do this for all sports not just golf!

So while a Professional Organiser is organised, we can’t make space where there is none. Some things will go, if space – or lack there of – dictates so. All of this can be determined during a Home Assessment. To ease you gently into the process of working with us, why not book a Taster Session? We will do one of our Home Assessments for the first hour, and then the next two hours are spent organising a specific area.

With the taster session you get an idea of how we can help, and what exactly we do without any obligation to continue if you don’t want! Click here to schedule a free chat with me and I’ll be delighted to talk you through the process!

And so, how about a spot of golf…swing through these images…if you like what you see, we design too so any of the organisation shown here can be discussed for your home too!
