“My word of the year this year is….” – I’ve often heard people talk about this. I wondered how someone could 1. Figure out what word to choose and 2. How could a word cover everything you want to do in the year? How could a word actually help you?
I was wondering was it just another ‘fad’.
However this year I was attending a workshop for business planning and while I can’t remember what they were talking about at the time, suddenly a word came to me that just made sense!
FOCUS
It came to me and I realised the word ‘focus’ just works for me as my “word of the year”. There are certain things I really need to focus on. Some things I’ve been meaning to do and just don’t do them – I need to focus and get them done. And then while I’m in the thick of those projects, I need to focus. So this word really just worked for me. I feel this really helps in so many ways – from my time and task management, to my work to getting my personal goals up and running. I will definitely be discussing this with my time management clients in their sessions over the coming weeks.
And I have to say since I landed upon it a few days ago, every now and then I say it to myself and it is literally doing what it says it will – it’s helping me to focus.
So perhaps don’t knock it until you try it like I was doing.
What word could help you get things done and achieve? Or perhaps it’s a word to bring some peace, calm and stability into your life? Perhaps you need more fun in your life? What word might help?
How are you doing with your goals for 2025? It’s nearly week three – have you even given them any consideration? Perhaps goal setting isn’t for you? Or you do think about it, but that’s as far as you get? What would you love to do this year? Organise the house? Travel? Start a hobby? Get fit? As you know Organised Chaos can be your buddy to help you with the house. And we can also help you focus your mind and manage your time so you get these things you want to do, done.
Let me know in the comments what you’re hoping to ‘focus’ on this year?! And what ‘word’ you might use?! 😃
Happy Organising!
