Organising a Bathroom cabinet

small-storage

Hi everyone,

A bathroom cabinet can be a great place to try out if you are not sure where to start with your own organisation. Here I’ll show you how I got this unruly bathroom cabinet in order!

Here’s a Before shot! This had been like this a while and such a gorgeous, big cabinet needed a bit of TLC.

As usual I started by emptying out all the contents. Decluttering and removing anything that was no longer needed or broken. I also check expiration dates on the medicines that were found.

The categories of items found included:

  • Toiletries
  • Medicines
  • Toiletry bags
  • Towels
  • Equipment such as Electric razors and travel hairdryer

Next, I polished the two shelves and cleaned them up so that I had a nice clean slate to work with.

Once that was done, I could start the fun part! Organising it!

I used storage that we already had and put them to better use.

We got this very fun medicine box ages ago but hadn’t had a chance to use it.

So into that went all the medicines and first aid.

Then we had some IKEA baskets to use.

For the small one I picked out all the small items and assigned a pocket for each one.

One pocket was for soaps, the other for razor blades, another for essential oils.

While the bigger basket was used for chunkier toiletries which would hold well there, such as stock of shaving foam, shampoo and body lotion.

The small items would have got lost in this large basket had I used it for them. Always remember to look at the size of your category in comparison to the size of the storage you want to use.

Finally, arranging everything back into the cabinet,I chose to put all the family’s toiletries down on the bottom shelf. This is because if you are standing at the cabinet and you open the doors, it’s the bottom shelf you see first. And since toiletries are probably what you’re looking for, having them on this shelf makes them easier to find.

This was a quick and fun organising project and only took about a half hour!

Happy Organising!
