Hi everyone,
Summer is here and with that hopefully many of you are planning to take some holidays. And perhaps you’ll be heading to the beach. After a long winter, a bit of sunshine and sea water will do just nicely thank you!
So today I thought I’d share with you how I pack my beach bag! Whether you’re off to the Cote d’Azur or our fab Donegal beaches, we all need to bring the essentials with us. Here’s how to make sure you don’t forget anything, that it’s all to hand and without fear of getting things wet and full of sand!
First up, you need a nice big one – you’ll probably be all day at the beach, so you need a big enough bag to hold everything you might need that day.
Next, instead of leaving items loose inside, add smaller bags within this larger one. Each bag will hold different things
Within the beach bag, you’ll probably have the following items…
Clothing:
- Towels
- Swim suits
- Sarong
- Change of clothes/ underwear
- Hats
- Sunglasses
Fun & Games:
- Beach toys
- Books
- Kindle
- iPod
- Magazines
Toiletries & First Aid:
- Suncream
- Facial spray
- Insect repellent
- Hand wash liquid/ wipes
- Hair accessories
- Tissues
- Plasters
- Antiseptic
- Eye drops
Personal items:
- Phone
- Camera
- Wallet
- Keys
Other:
- Snacks & Water
We have a small cooler bag separate to the beach bag for our snacks and water, but if you have a large enough beach bag, you might fit a smaller cooler bag inside too, which would be handy.
Everything listed above I put into smaller bags – toiletries, first aid, personal items, any paper such as magazines. I also have a clear bag for my wet togs at the end of the day.
I recommend you use clear toiletry bags so that you can easily see what’s inside each one. And if you either don’t have clear toiletry bags or you run out of them, try using Ziploc or sandwich bags. I’m a big fan of these bags to solve many storage problems about the home.
By having smaller bags within your larger beach bag, everything will be held neatly there. It will be easy to hand, easy to use and easy to see!
To Pack!
Pack the bag placing the items you will need first when you get to the beach, on top. Place your clothes along side the clear bags and roll them to create more space. Lie your towel and hat on top and you’re good to go!
Happy Organising & Bonne vacances!
