Hi everyone,
If there’s one thing that makes such a difference to a room is getting the wires and cables neat and hidden. A tangled mess of wires is not only useless for you but they look awful. No matter how much effort you put into decorating and organising a room, if you don’t look at the wires and plug sockets, a space just won’t look finished. Cable management is not only important for health and safety, but it will really show your attention to detail!
In today’s post, I’m going to show you four solutions I’ve put in place at home to keep wires under control.
The Office:
If you caught my recent post, I did a major organising overhaul of my office. Part of this work included streamlining all the equipment and by extension their cables. Here’s how they looked beforehand. Yikes!
Life is too short to fight with cables. Equipment is expensive and making sure the wiring is untangled and safe will keep it working for longer. Disorganised cables are awful dust magnets too, so straighten them out and you’ll reduce the need to dust.
In the office, I’ve used my favourite product, cable tags from the Martha Stewart Home Office range. I bought them in the States years ago and I just love them. I used my label maker to print out the label and stuck them to the cable tag. The tag has an elastic band which wraps around the plug identifying each piece of equipment. I mean…can you even…!
I have also organised my business phone in this area. I use the UMBRA charging station as a place to home it as well as charge it up.
The Hallway:
Recently I changed internet providers so this meant my WIFI box moved from the living room to the hallway. And with that came lots of wires. I bought a a cable box from Blue Lounge to deal with that. Now the extension lead and the wires are all tucked up neatly inside and I’ve a nice, organised hallway again. Purchased from The Organised Store in Dundrum, Dublin.
The Living Room:
Finally, in the living room I have a lamp with a very long plug lead. So in this instance, I’ve used one of my favourite solutions – a cable turtle. This I bought from The Container Store and I think they are so handy. I’ve simply wrapped one section of the wire and neatened up the rest.
Have you noticed your equipment and wiring could be more organised? We’d love to help you out.
Or perhaps you’ve tackled it yourself already…share your ideas in the comments below!
Happy Organising!
